I'm trying something new with this blog, taking inspiration from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?", one of the first children's computer games released in the floppy disk era, a long time ago in 1985.

Accordingly, I won't publish an itinerary in advance, nor any maps, just photos, and some occasional text. You'll have to guess where we've been, and, depending on cell service and internet access, I'll eventually let you know where we visited.

Feel free to record your guess in the comments section.

Day 23-August 3

 Photos from Day 23

Comments about Day 22:

Our last day in Glacier;” we left the campground around 8 AM, and stopped for a delicious breakfast in downtown Whitefish at “Amazing Crepes”  Yes, we had crepes!

Last night’s storm really cooled things off, at least for the night and this morning, and at least temporarily washed away a lot of the smoke from the forest fires.  We really liked Whitefish.  The campground was was outstanding, the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating.

Our first destination was Two Medicines, which is on the eastern side of Glacier.  There’s a campground there, several lakes, and it was a lot less crowded than the western side of the park.  Leaving Two Medicines, we headed north to the Many Glaciers section of the park, which is supposed to have the best views of glaciers.  When the park first opened their were over 150 glaciers but today there are only 25.  Soon there will be none.  BUT THERE”S NO GLOBAL WARMING!

Unfortunately we were not able to enter Many Glaciers due to road construction that was causing estimated delays of up to 40 minutes.  So we headed south toward our next campsite which was near Helena, the state capitol.  After seeing so many cattle of the miles and miles that we have travelled , we wanted steak, and we got it

Leaving Helena, we had only a 15 mile drive to our campsite on Ferry Canyon Reservoir,  where we arrived around 9:30 PM.

Our mileage for the day was around 370 miles.

  1. Clearly a lot of Big Sky, Montana. The pictures along the road are the Gallatin River. We are about two miles north of the picture with the cars along the road - The Inn on the Gallatin - RV Park.
