I'm trying something new with this blog, taking inspiration from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?", one of the first children's computer games released in the floppy disk era, a long time ago in 1985.

Accordingly, I won't publish an itinerary in advance, nor any maps, just photos, and some occasional text. You'll have to guess where we've been, and, depending on cell service and internet access, I'll eventually let you know where we visited.

Feel free to record your guess in the comments section.

Comments from Day 21

We woke up at 4:30 AM and were on the road by 5:00 AM, very similar to when we head out to watch the Tour de France.  The early start was due to the fact that we had to enter the park before 6:00 AM.  We made it with 15 minutes to spare.

Amazingly there were many others who were doing the same thing, and as we drove past the first campground which operates on strictly a first come first served basis there was already a line of campers, hoping that some campsites would become available at check out time which wasn’t until 11 AM.

Our goal was to find a spot with a great view along the “Road to the Sun”, so we drove about 25 miles into the park, stopping for photos, before we found an ideal spot for us to make breakfast and just relax.  We remained at this spot until 10 AM, before decide to proceed further toward Logan Pass, but we didn’t get too far before the driving along the edge of the cliff got to me and we turned around.

On the way back down, we stopped frequently for photos before finally leaving the park around 1:00 PM.

Returning to Whitefish, we stopped for lunch at Loula’s, where we’d eaten the previous day, and then returned to our campsite.  It was another scorching hot day; again the temp reached 100°, so we relaxed, napped and took showers just to cool off.  A storm rolled in around 7 PM, bringing rain and much cooler temps which we didn’t mind at all.  Our late, but finally cool, dinner including salad, chicken tenders, and a well chilled rose wine.

  1. Your comment about driving along the cliff reminded me of a Jeeping experience we had in the Silverton, CO area. I bailed and stayed back at the house with the dogs. It was not for me! I understand completely.

  2. I wonder what the sign on the barn roof means. It's not clear to me. Some of those mountain roads are certainly scary. The meal looks great.
