I'm trying something new with this blog, taking inspiration from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?", one of the first children's computer games released in the floppy disk era, a long time ago in 1985.

Accordingly, I won't publish an itinerary in advance, nor any maps, just photos, and some occasional text. You'll have to guess where we've been, and, depending on cell service and internet access, I'll eventually let you know where we visited.

Feel free to record your guess in the comments section.

Day 4-July 15

We got an early start on Day 3, leaving Rosemary & Bill's place around 6:30 AM, and were lucky enough to get croissants and scones at the Cafe Provence bakery in Brandon, VT, where we had dinner on Tuesday night.  Our drive took us along the NY Thruway, paralleling the Erie Canal, through the keystone corner of Pennsylvania, and into Ohio, where we spent the night along Lake Erie at the Geneva State Park.

For Day 4 we were on the road by 5:50 AM, we had a 5 PM dinner reservation that we didn't want to miss!  Here are our photos from that day:

Obviously we're following a truck route.

If you watch HGTV, you might recognize these houses!

This photo will give away our destination for Day 4, but for me it's always a thrill when you first see it.

  2. The houses looked familiar but I couldn't remember where they were. Food looks great.

  3. Reminds me of my summer crewing a towboat. (And a few years later, rafting down the Big Muddy.) How great that you guys are back there once again!

  4. The Gateway Arch was our one "tourist" stop on our cross country trip to AZ. We saw it from a park across the river.

If we had known about Charlie Gitto's, we might have stopped there as well :-)
