I'm trying something new with this blog, taking inspiration from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?", one of the first children's computer games released in the floppy disk era, a long time ago in 1985.

Accordingly, I won't publish an itinerary in advance, nor any maps, just photos, and some occasional text. You'll have to guess where we've been, and, depending on cell service and internet access, I'll eventually let you know where we visited.

Feel free to record your guess in the comments section.

Day 25-August 5

Comments about Day 24

Our route on day 24

Departing from our Swan Creek campsite near Big Sky at 7:19 AM, we headed to the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.  This park was not in our plans originally, and it wasn’t until a couple of days ago that we realized how close we would be since we were going to Big Sky.  So we altered some campground reservations and amazingly were able to reserve a campsite for one night in the park!

After entering the park we headed north toward the Mammoth Springs area.  We were last in Yellowstone in 2006. and thermal sulphur springs were one of our favorite sites.  Leaving Mammoth Springs we continue the big loop in the clockwise direction, stopping for a picnic lunch 1:30 PM.   We continued along the loop until we reached the Roosevelt Lodge, and discovered the road was closed, so we had to retrace our steps, which was a little frustrating, but the scenery is so incredible that we really didn’t mind.  Plus on the return run we saw a wolf, some mule deer, and a herd of buffalo!  Seeing the wolf was particularly amazing since there are only 104 of them in the entire park.

We didn’t reach our campground, Bay Bridge, until 7:30 PM, so we quickly got settled and made our dinner, fresh corn and leftover barbecue sandwiches.  The Bay Bridge campground has 400 sites, so we really felt packed in with very little space between us and other campers,  but we were so happy to have a site inside the park that it didn’t matter.
