I'm trying something new with this blog, taking inspiration from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?", one of the first children's computer games released in the floppy disk era, a long time ago in 1985.

Accordingly, I won't publish an itinerary in advance, nor any maps, just photos, and some occasional text. You'll have to guess where we've been, and, depending on cell service and internet access, I'll eventually let you know where we visited.

Feel free to record your guess in the comments section.

Day 7-July 18

Comments on Day 6 Photos:

Heading west from St. Louis we crossed the rolling farmlands of Missouri, through Kansas City and made our first stop in Topeka, visiting the National Park Service's museum which celebrates the Supreme Court's decision on "Brown vs. Board of Education".  The museum is housed in the Monroe Elementary School which was attended by kindergarten student Linda Brown, for whom the case is known.  Linda's parents were one of thirteen families who in 1951 challenged the practice of segregating Black students in Topeka.  Thurgood Marshall represented the defendants once the case reached the Supreme Court.

Leaving the museum we drove by the Capitol building in Topeka whose many empty storefronts suggests this city has passed its prime.

From Topeka we continued west on I-70 to our campsite for the night at the incredibly beautiful Wilson Lake State Park.
